Portugal  has issued a set of stamps as well as the colonies did. In order to make a clear distinction, both are separated from each other.

Two stamps have been issued. The dark green version is valued 1$00 and the dark brown at 3$30. Each of them had the same dimensions: 25,5mm x 34m

The designer is José de Almada Negreiros and the stamps were printed by the Portugese Mint at Lisbon.

The 1$00 value stamp has been printed in 8.000.000 copies, the 3$00 value in 2.000.000 copies.

 It is not known how many stamps were printed per sheet.
