The set of stamps for Roumania (2 types) were effectively stamps issued on 6 November 1957 and which got an overprint in red on 20 July 1958. They are quite famous since known to have as many normal overprints as reverse overprints.
The stamps were designed by D.Ştiubei, colectiv Dumitrana and engraved by Fabrica de Timbre, Bucharest. Each set of stamp consisted out three parts: a stamp of value of 25 Bani, a piece without value but with commemoration text of the first satellites in space, and another stamp of a value of 3.75 Lei. One set was printed in greenish grey with brown commemoration text and the other is blue with light grey commemoration text. Both sets have the same design.
One million of each set of the stamp of 1957 was printed.
On 20 July, the same stamp sets were used for World Expo 58. It is know that only 77022 sets of each were overprinted which makes this set quite rare.
Full page sheets are very rare to be found. They are interesting because of how the sets were printed. Set of two pages with correct overprint.
